28th June 2011 Meeting

Today meeting was attended by 8 Committee, 30 members and 1 visitor.

Todays meeting began with a presentation of a beautiful framed Certificate from the National Coastwatch Institution. The Certificate was to show their appreciation for Plugits continuous and generous support to Mablethorpes National Coastwatch.

After the official part of the meeting Howard showed a demonstration on how to build your own home finance spreadsheet using Microsoft Excel.

After the break Brett Harris amused us with a talking Koala and then went on to show a demonstration on using File Minimizer.

24th May 2011 Meeting

Today meeting was attended by 9 Committee and 24 members.

The Club had a new high tech modern projector to try out, which was very successful.

The new Craft Table had many excellent projects created by members on show, thanks to Hilary Mee.

Howard Hall had some more of his bargain 4GB data pens for sale. If anyone is interested in purchasing any then please email Howard at hdcomputers@btinternet.com

After the official part of the meeting had finished Margaret Lillywhite gave a demonstration using Word and Wordart to create your own personalised Logo. She then showed how you could transfer the logo to Paint in order to save it as a picture that could be added to any of your created items such as cards etc. The members enthusiastically showed their appreciation for this demonstration by a fellow member.

After the break Brett Harris showed some videos on downloading, installing and using Recuva, a file recovery program made by the same makers as CCleaner.

26th April 2011 Meeting

Today meeting was attended by 9 Committee, 30 members and 3 visitors.

The Chairman reported that the clubs first Social Event, the Antiques Afternoon, was a great success and he hoped Mr Norman Coffey would visit again.

We heard the specifications of a nice new projector for the club to buy as the old one is getting very tired. The members agreed that it would be worth while purchasing the new one.

Hilary Mee is looking after a new Craft Table at the meetings which will show items created by members on their computers, all contributions are welcome.

Howard Hall had some bargain 4GB data pens for sale. They all went very quickly so if anyone is interested in ordering some please email Howard with their request at hdcomputers@btinternet.com

After the official part of the meeting had finished Howard showed a selection of videos from the Microsoft website showing all the useful features in Windows 7.

After the break Brett Harris showed some videos on downloading, installing and using Sweet Home 3D.

Plugits Antique Afternoon

Donation to CoastwatchPlugit has held its first social activity event, an Antique Afternoon at the Bacchus Hotel, which was well attended by over 40 people.

Norman Coffey from The Old Maltings Antique Centre in Louth was the guest speaker. Mr Coffey discussed the various antiques brought along.

There was also a picture puzzle quiz which was won by the team led by Janice Kelk a Plugit member.

Mr Coffey waived his fee and instead presented a cheque to Tony Harrison of NCI Coastwatch Mablethorpe.

The event was a great success and Plugit would like to thank all that attended and Mr Coffey for his time and expertise.

22nd March 2011

Today was the 13th Plugit A.G.M. and the meeting was well attended by 45 members including committee.

The meeting went very well with our Chairman thanking many of the Committee who had worked hard through the year to make the club as successful as it now is.

Our committee for the coming year was elected. The Officers are Howard Hall as Chairman, Michael Wellby as Vice Chairman, Frances Hitchcock as Secretary and Debra Hall as Treasurer. We have 9 other committee members which are Bob Lightsey (Equipment Officer), Brett Harris, Jim Eaton, Hilary Mee, Audrey Clements, Leon Kaye, Tony Van Clarke, Harry Innocent, Bryan Varnam.

After the official part of the meeting had finished Howard showed a very interesting video about the USGS website and earthquakes, mainly showing the many earthquakes that have occurred just recently in Japan.

After the break Brett Harris showed a couple of short videos on writing emails and adding contacts. This was followed by questions and answers.
