We had some items that had been donated to the club and where sold to the members, also the clubs very old Laptop was sold off.

All members received a gift Plugit Folder to hold their demonstration DVDs and handouts from the meetings.

After the formal side of the meeting Howard showed the members how to use a memory pen to extend the usable memory of their computers.

After the break Brett showed a video on downloading, installing and using Rainmeter, a free software package that displays information about your computer on your desktop.

After the formal part of the meeting Brett showed us how to copy our records onto the computer using the clubs own record player.

After the break Brett showed how to customise your Desktop Wallpaper followed by a few videos showing a new alternative program to Ccleaner called AppCleaner for cleaning up your computer.

After the formal part of the meeting Brett showed us how to make our own Christmas Cards using Open Office.

After the break Brett showed a new program that can run applications from a USB pen drive.  The program was PortableApps and a link will be available from the downloads page plus the videos from the meeting.

Howard showed a video on the Kindle for PC, which enables you to read thousands of books on your computer.  Followed by a demonstration on how to install and use Wordweb, a small dictionary that sits on your task bar.

After the break Brett showed a video on Windows 7 shortcut keys followed by a vidoe on Soluto, a program to speed up your computers boot time.

Frances Hitchcock is organising a couple more social events, the first being a Beetle Drive on 5th October, tickets £1 and the other one being the Christmas Lunch.

Brett Harris showed a demonstration on text to speech in Crazy Talk and how to make the file sizes smaller in order to send them to friends or family.  Howard Hall showed a video on downloading and installing a program called Virtual Box.

After the break Howard showed how to download and burn to disc Ubuntu, a free operating system.  He then  showed how to install the operating system into the Virtual Box software.

At the end Howard showed a quick demonstration on how to make a little booklet.

After the official part of the meeting had finished Brian Cooke showed a video that he had created using Microsoft Movie Maker using photographs and music.

After the break Brett Harris showed some videos on downloading, installing and using Crazy Talk, the software that he used to make the talking Koala that we saw last month. After this he showed a short video on FotoSketcher.

Todays meeting began with a presentation of a beautiful framed Certificate from the National Coastwatch Institution. The Certificate was to show their appreciation for Plugits continuous and generous support to Mablethorpes National Coastwatch.

After the official part of the meeting had finished Margaret Lillywhite gave a demonstration using Word and Wordart to create your own personalised Logo. She then showed how you could transfer the logo to Paint in order to save it as a picture that could be added to any of your created items such as cards etc. The members enthusiastically showed their appreciation for this demonstration by a fellow member.

After the break Brett Harris showed some videos on downloading, installing and using Recuva, a file recovery program made by the same makers as CCleaner.

The Chairman reported that the clubs first Social Event, the Antiques Afternoon, was a great success and he hoped Mr Norman Coffey would visit again.

We heard the specifications of a nice new projector for the club to buy as the old one is getting very tired. The members agreed that it would be worth while purchasing the new one.

Hilary Mee is looking after a new Craft Table at the meetings which will show items created by members on their computers, all contributions are welcome.
